Amanda Blake

Amanda Blake, born as Beverly Louise Neill, was a popular American actor. She is most well-known for her character as Miss Kitty Russell from the TV show "Gunsmoke" but she was also a very popular American actor. Her other notable roles included her appearances in TV shows such as 'The Red Skelton Show,' 'Tattletales,' and The Edge of Night. Additionally, she acted in scores of films, such as 'Stars in My Crown' Duchess of Idaho', 'Cattle Town', 'Miss Robin Crusoe'in "About Mrs. Leslie The Adventures of Hajji Baba', 'High Society' and 'The Boost'. As a former operator of a phone, Blake was an avid animal enthusiast. Together together with Frank Gilbert, she was the first to successfully breed cheetahs in cages. She was a co-founder along with Frank Gilbert, her husband of Arizona Animal Welfare League. Blake was a former chairman of the board of directors for the Humane Society of the United States. Blake was inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Blake was also awarded the Courage Award by the American Cancer Society.
